Wigan flight

How lovely it is at the top of the flight in new springs. We have been discovering the area for the last 2 weeks and are ready to move on tomorrow.
Been very impressed with the people of wigan, very friendly..

Football boots

Been a day of blacking out footy boots for prem players. All to do with myveldest sons business TOOTSBOOTS.
Also had a knock on the boat from Jim who's boat was launched just before ours and thankfully he hasnt finished his either!
Had a conversation about thr rust comingvthrough on our hull which according to Jim isnt rust its pitting that shouldnt be happening and according to a surveyer he had look at his boat its due to the earth coming from our negative on the battery to the hull. The surveyer says it isnt needed and is caising tbe hull yo have a negative charge and everytime a  boat goes by it makes some metal leave our boat and attach to yheirs.
Dont quite undersrand that but will be looking into it before all our hull gets robbed!

Matt Jess new house

Well the kids are growing up, my footballer son and Jess his partner gets the keys to their new house on Friday. It's an exciting time for them, then I get news that my brother and his wife Liz are ready to embark on having a boat built....
They have been waiting for their daughters house to sell so she can buy hers and then that can get onto the water....happy days.
We're here in Wigan trying to make the decision to go towards Leigh or up the flight towards York.
Now there doesn't really seem like any decision to be made there does there, Leigh? York ? Mmm

On the move

Left our winter spot on Tuesday and headed for wigan, hopefully going up the wigan flight on Tuesday 25th for new waters. We have never been that way before as our narrowboat was too small, looking forward to it...
Just had a moment, thinking back 2 years ago at this time of year we were in Nantwich and at the end of the month headed to liverpool with our good friends Dot and Colin, unfortunately this time last year Dot became ill and passed away relatively suddenly. Will miss her forever.....

new year 2014

Well here i am, so sorry for leaving you all high and dry. I have been busy losing weight and have reached my goal for my 50th on 26th November. i have struggled to move more than a few pounds over the last few years and have ended up so despondent, however, i managed my goal and i lost 35lb between aug and my birthday. No exercise was involved either!!! well only my normal day to day running of the ship.
Tim followed me on my quest and he lost42lb so the boat is now floating a little higher in the water.

My other news is the birth of my first grandchild, Ava Rose , what a gift she was to my life. i cant get any pics on here from my new laptop today but i will hopefully within the week.

Clean up

Well we left Crooke and headed down to deans lock were we filled the water, washed everything we poses, including the boat....
Too hot and muggy, shattered. Oh and I made 2 gluten free loaves, one was awful!
Later we nipped into the pub with our banjo as all the guys were there with there's.
It's late now, actually 12.40 am and I am off for a shower before bed.....
